Designer Ralph Lauren allegedly has had exploratory discussions with LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton over the past two years about a possible acquisition of the all American fashion brand, according to reporting by political site Axios.
Now 83-years old, Lauren is thought to be mulling a succession plan for the company, which he founded in 1967.
While the though of owning such an iconic American brand may be intriguing to LVMH, it may not be in the mood for another big acquisition given it’s fresh off of paying $15.8 billion for American jeweler Tiffany & Co.
Ralph Lauren and LVMH have not responded to a request for comment on the rumor by Axios.
