New York-based Marquee Brands has acquired streetwear brand Anti Social Social Club for an undisclosed amount. In an interview with Business of Fashion, Marquee Brands, CEO Neil Fiske spoke of the future if Anti Social Social Club and says “Our plan is to let ASSC be ASSC with no intent to change the brand DNA, values, or culture.”
Established by Los Angeles-based Neek Lurk in 2015, Anti Social Social Club built its notoriety by launching capsule collections rooted in a West Coast chill mood. The brand famously collaborated with brands like Fragment, A Bathing Ape, Hello Kitty and Cactus Plant Flea Market to name a few.
Over the past two years, Anti Social Social Club has lost some of its luster as fans of the brand grew brand grew bored of its formulaic drops. As well, the brand developed a reputation for sometimes taking weeks or even months to fulfill orders, and to this day its Instagram comments are filled with people complaining about late shipments and lack of communication. Still, a launch in April (see below) garnered over 10,000 likes and 194 comments.
