Ever focused on elevating cruel-free design, Stella McCartney has introduced the Frayme crossbody bag, made from Mylo, a soft sustainable leather alternative made of mycelium, the root system of mushrooms. The metal chain accents are made of recyclable aluminum.
Develop by Bolt Threads, Mylo embodies the innovation possible with sustainable materials. In press about the bag release, Bolt Threads founder David Widmaier talks about the effort with McCarthy. He explained, “It’s been an honor to partner so closely with Stella and her team as they break new ground in luxury fashion with Mylo. Their category defining leadership of animal-free fashion and championship of sustainable materials is paving a path forward towards a more responsible fashion industry. Bringing the first-ever luxury bag made from Mylo to market is a massive milestone for conscientious consumers, the biomaterials industry, and the future of luxury fashion.”
Limited to 100 individually numbered bags, Stella McCartney’s Frayme bag making use of Mylo will launch exclusively at Stella McCartney stores with a wider releases in 2023.
