Los Angeles-based designer Melody Ehsani has provided a preview of her latest Air Jordan collab, her take a 36 PE Low silhouette. Featuring a tri-color snakeskin-inspired leather upper, the performance shoe’s laces are detailed with gold-colored charms touching on motifs Ehsani has used over the years.
The insole of the shoe reads “We stand on the shoulder of greats,” while the gumsole-colored sole is stamped with a hamsa symbol. Often described as the hand of god, the hamsa, according to Ehsani, is “a symbol for protection from anything that doesn’t serve your purpose.”
Commenting on the effort, Ehsani took to Instagram where she wrote, “as an admirer and student of basketball/athletes I’ve been slowly working my way up to having the opportunity to work on a performance shoe. Tinker Hatfields relationship with Jordan was always my version of a wet dream as a designer.
Ehsani noted that she gifted multiple pairs of the shoe to “all my favorite WNBA and NBA players” and added, “Hopefully the next round will be for everyone.”
The latest Air Jordan silhouette was first debuted in 2021 and has been worn by NBA players Luka Dončić and Jayson Tatum, who debuted Ehsani’s version of the shoe during warm ups for game two of the NBA finals.
Prior to the Air Jordan 36 PE, Ehsani first collaborated with Air Jordan in 2019 on an Air Jordan 1 Mid silhouette, followed by a Jordan OG sneaker in 2020.
As of now, Air Jordan hasn’t revealed pricing or launch timing for the shoe.
