Designer Priya Ahluwaia has released “Beloved,” a film short marking her directorial debut following her signing with London-based Black Dog Films. The film debuted at Soho House in London, as part of a new film festival hosted by the designer.
A celebration of Ahluwaia‘s fall 2022 collection titled “From Nollywood to Bollywood,” the two and a half minute short is described by the director as “a multifaceted display of Black and brown love stories” acting as “an ode to the visualization of love stories we love to watch in Bollywood and Nollywood cinema but rarely get to enjoy in Western media.”
Commenting on “Beloved,” Ahluwai said, “Film has become one of my favorite mediums to showcase stories from my community, as well as my collections. I love how film has the power to connect to its audiences, transport them and drive emotional engagement.”
