Beyoncé dips into her high fashion bag with the reveal “Renaissance Couture,” a collection of 16 looks co-created with Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing with each look taking inspiration from an individual track on her Renaissance album. The news was announced with a French Vogue cover story featuring Beyoncé who wears one of the 16 looks, as photographed by Louie Banks and styled by Marni Sarafonte.
The collection is described by press as a “one-of-a-kind couture collection directly inspired by the global hit album and co-created in collaboration with the muse herself.”
“Olivier is a dream collaborator. All that he has done as a Black designer in breaking down and opening doors has been inspiring,” said Beyoncé. “I always knew one day I would work with him on a collection. I am so proud of what we created together.”
Commenting on the effort, Rousteing added, “Beyoncé advocates for freedom above all else, for freedom in today’s world. This is a powerful voice that resonates. She speaks of diversity, of every kind of diversity, and pays tribute to the queer community, honoring house music, ballroom and voguing balls.”
Beyoncé provided a sneak peak of the collectin when she wore one of the looks for her a photoshoot celebrating her four Grammy Awards wins for music from Renaissance. One has to assume, some if not all of the looks will be included in Renaissance-related music videos as well as the tour in support of the album, May 10, 2023, at Friends Arena in Stockholm.
