Podcast host and actress Julia Fox has begun to reveal some of the juicy details included in her soon-to-be-released autobiographical book. Titled Down the Drain, the book is a look back at her rough and tumble life, including her early years in Italy where she was raised by her grandfather until age six. The real drama began when Fox left Italy to live with her single father in New York where her life begins to go off the rails as only a teenager running unsupervised on the streets of the City can.
The book concludes not long after Fox’s February 2022 breakup with Ye (formerly known as Kanye West), and while Fox’s life is filled with plenty of noteworthy moments, in interviews she is inevitably ask about her most famous ex, appropos given the degree to which her career trajectory was lifted by her association with the music creative and entrepreneur.
On Ye, Fox has said their relationship takes up six of the book’s 336 pages, and like a lot of prominent individuals in the story, she doesn’t refer to him by his government name, using “the artist” to reference him. While Fox’s book delves into some spicey details on her various sexcapades, including famously a stint as a dominatrix, in a recent interview with the NY Times she concedes didn’t write about sex with Ye in the book because “there, like, wasn’t any,” adding, “It wasn’t really about that.”
To Fox’s claim, the relationship appeared to mainly be fueled by Ye’s ongoing Svengali-esque obsession with directing the style choices of the women in his life as a form of performance art. Together from their meeting at a New Year’s Eve party in Miami in 2022 until Valentine’s Day just under three months later, Ye surprised her on one of their first dates with a rack of Diesel clothing and he sent the internet into a tizzy when he gifted Fox and four of her friends Hermès Birkin bags for her 32nd birthday. For their trip to Paris for fashion week, he had makeup artist Pat McGrath apply an extreme cat eye so striking and buzzed about, it became a TikTok filter.
Let it be known the Birkin bag from Ye wasn’t Fox’s first. She had one Birkin that was sliced open with a machete by a now former friend and she was also gifted one by a millionaire that she sold to fund a drug-fueled, six-month trip to Louisiana. That said, when asked if she still had the bag gifted to her by Ye, the 33-year-old replied, “Of course.”
Priced at $28.99, Fox’s Down the Drain biography will be available to purchase on October 10, 2023,
