Congrats are in order for St. Louis-born rapper Sexyy Red who teamed up with SZA to announce her pregnancy. Red whose real name is Janae Wherry hasn’t yet revealed the father. She’s already the mother of Chuckie, a three-year-old boy whose father is currently in prison.
Red joined SZA (real name Solána Rowe) on stage over the weekend in their shared hometown St. Louis where they performed “Rich Baby Daddy,” a single from Drake‘s For All The Dogs album featuring both music creatives.
It’s been a major year for Red, whose career took off with the release of “Pound Town” in January, her first
single to hit Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. She followed up with a “Pound Town” remix with Nicki Minaj, and then scored multiple hits on Billboard‘s newly-launched TikTok Top 50 chart, including “SkeeYee,” the first song to hit No. 1 on the chart.
More recently, the Rebel Music-signed Red wowed the audience at the BET Hip Hop Awards with a medley of songs also ft. Da Baby, Juvenile and Mannie Fresh.
Just before her BET performance, Red stirred controversy when a sex tape featuring the 25-year-old
rapper was briefly available on her Instagram Stories. On Twitter, Red claimed she wasn’t responsible for
uploading the video, writing, “I’m so heartbroken anybody that kno me knows I wouldn’t do no goofy sht
like that.”
