Puma and Rihanna’s Fenty label have announced plans to relaunch the Creeper in a new version called the Phatty Creeper, described as “bigger, bolder and phatter than ever.” The shoe features a suede upper and will be offered in three colors: black and white, blue and green and lavender and red.
Commenting on the Phatty Creeper, Rihanna said, ““We took our OG Creeper and made it bigger and badder. When designing the Creeper Phatty we wanted to reinvent the OG Creeper that was loved by so many. It’s a classic silhouette that has been missed, so it’s return had to be bigger.”
The reintroduced Phatty Creeper was announced with an electric campaign shot by Philippa Price and directed by Rihanna who went platinum blonde for the spot. Rihanna’s makeup for the effort was handled by Priscilla Ono
When Puma and Rihanna announced they were reuniting earlier this year, fans of the original effort immediately began clamoring for Creeper, a shoe first released in 2015. Recognizing the popularity of the stylish silhouette, Maria Valdes, Puma’s chief product officer stated, “The original Creeper changed the game for us.”
Similar to the Avanti sneaker Puma and Fenty launch in September, the Creeper Phatty will be available in women’s, men’s and children’s sizes. Naturally, a wee version of the creeper has been spotted on Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s son, RZA.
Pricing isn’t yet available for the Puma by Fenty Phatty Creeper, but it will launch on puma.com at 10 AM EST on November 30, 2023, followed by a global release at retailers including Foot Locker on December 1st.
