Swedish sneaker boutique Sneakersnstuff has shuttered its stores located in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District and Los Angeles. The company has also closed SNS Bar, located in a basement space under the New York store. The announcement about the New York location was announced on Instagram where the brand stated, “Meatpacking – you have done us so good, but it is time for our next SNS New York location and adventure. The amount of love, energy, ridiculousness, fun, and most importantly the people will always be a part of us and now we look forward to a new SNS NY iteration.”
Without the New York and Los Angeles stores, the company is now without a physical store presence in the United States, though it’s still operating an ecommerce site. On the company’s website, it states that the company is looking for a new location. The company still maintains locations in Berlin, Paris, London and Stockholm.
Sneakernstuff opened the store in 2017, the company’s first location in the United States. The 3,5000-square-foot space was located at 22 Little West 12th Street where its carried top-tier branded footwear and apparel as well as the SNS private label. Sneakersnstuff in 2019 opened the SNS Bar, providing a music and concert venue for a wide range of genres.
It’s been a tumultuous two years in the athletic footwear space as sport specialty retailers and boutiques contend with a more challenging, post-pandemic environment upended by a more cautious consumer and changing fashion trends creating headwinds for the space. In Ocotber of last year, Foot Locker announced it was closing its U.S. Atmos locations and the company also announced plans to shutter 400 Champs locations by 2026.
