U.K.-based label Wales Bonner as lead by Grace Wales Bonner unveiled a fall 2024 collection during Paris Fashion Week Men’s. Titled “Dream Study,” the collection included a collection with Adidas Originals on a crocs-embossed Superstar silhouette. Wales Bonner has partnered with Adidas Originals on multiple shoes and apparel capsules since fall 2020, providing a major boost to the German sport brand’s Samba silhouette.
In addition to the Superstar, the fall 2024 collection celebrated the legacy of Howard University with a persentation that belnded collegiate looks and athletic silhouettes. Highlights included a Nappa leather aviator jackets, corduroy varsity blousons, and satin baseball jerseys. Dresses and suiting were intricately embroidered with crocheted mirrors handmade in India, showcasing Bonner’s commitment to heritage and craftsmanship.
In addition to a live performance by Yasiin Bey, the presentation featured depictions of homecoming events like poetic readings and international gatherings. The presentation has roots in her “Spirit Mover” exhibition at MoMa (on view until February 2, 2023), which was drawn from research conducted at Howard University’s Moorland-Spingarn Research Center.
The overall result was a tapestry of style seamlessly weaving together elements of heritage, academia, and contemporary flair, reflecting Wales Bonner’s unique vision and creative prowess.
