OTW by Vans has unveiled a first-time collaboration with S.R. Studio. LA. CA. by multimedia artist and designer Sterling Ruby on a brand new sihouette. Dubbed Clash The Wall, the shoe is comprised of four Vans icons: Old Skool 36, Authentic, Mid-Skool 77, and Sk8-Hi.
Offered in either green gheko or orange pop, the monochromatic shoe reflects Ruby’s love of a bold color story, an aesthetic he’s translated to a wide range of projects inclulding the art for rapper Pusha T‘s most recent album, Almost Dry.
In press about the collaboration Ruby stated, “I loved skating, I still do. Everything about it represents freedom to me. From the simple rituals of dropping in on a vert ramp or grinding over a curb, the act of skateboarding defies gravity and is in and of itself rebellious. This collaboration is a personal collaboration, the first S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA. collaboration.
“Vans feels right to us, it defines a certain West Coast history. The company started in 1966 and has run in tandem to so many skaters, bands, and movements that have been influential to me, my art, and how my studio runs as a whole.”
Priced at $160, OTW by Vans and S.R. Studio. LA. CA will launch on February 29, at 2:00 PM EST otw.vans.com and srsstudio.com.
