Sporting a pair of Adidas Superstar platforms, iconic music creative Janet Jackson paid a visit to the latest episode of Complex‘s “Sneaker Shopping,” a series hosted by Joe La Puma. In the exchange, she kicked off the conversation by revealing she wore Adidas wrestling shoes in her dance-centered “Pleasure Principal” video. Jackson’s appearance on the show marks a new era for Jackson who tends to keep her public appearances on pop culture platforms to a minimum.
Jackson shared that over the course of her multi-decades career, she hasn’t ever been offered a sneaker deal, surprising given her status as an entertainer known for her dance skills. “As much as I wore and still wear sneakers, no,” she told La Puma.
As for her own collection of kicks, Jackson let it be known she was gifted a of pair Air Jordan 1 and Dior sneakers, but gave them away because the high style cut into her ankle. “I wore them once, but they’re beautiful. I loved them,” she said.
La Puma also highlighted images of Jackson wearing a pair of Nike and Comme des Garçons platforms along with Nike Shox, which Jackson said she wore for a performance. Jackson emphasized the important of comfort and shouted out Asics as her favorite brand to wear while rehearsing.
The 57-year-old entertainer spoke about her upcoming 35-date “Together Again” tour, which kicks off with a June 4, 2024 performance at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California
