Chicago-based designer Joe “Freshgoods” Robinson has introduced his latest effort with New Balance, a project titled “A Friend Named Cousin” highlighting the New Balance 990V6 offered in two monochromatic colors, Paris red and prom blue. The capsule also include football jerseys in coordinated colors.
As part of the launch, Joe is curating an exhibit in Paris during the Olympics that will feature the work of Jewel Ham, Teoni Hinds, Banga Minthe, Jahil Nzinga, Rello and Goldie Williams. The exhibition will take place at Les Filles du Calvaire in the Marais district of Paris from July 26-30, 2024.
Commenting on the effort on Instagram, Robinson said, “it was important for me to curate and highlight different Black artists from around the world. I wanted to push the notion that we are all connected beyond blood relations while also focusing on the true meaning of collaboration, which gets used out of context nowadays so much.”
Priced at $220, New Balance and Joe Freshgoods 990V6 in Paris red launches on July 27, 2024 and is rumored to be exclusive to the event. A wider release of the prom blue version is expected to release in August 2024 on Joe Freshgoods’ website and newbalance.com.
