Music creative and CEO Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is expanding her empire by stepping into the world of premium whiskey with the launch of Sir Davis. Drawing from her affinity for Japanese whiskey, Beyoncé teamed up with Moët Hennessy and master distiller Bill Lumsden to create a spirit brand rooted in American whiskey tradition.
Named after her paternal great-grandfather, a farmer and moonshiner during prohibition, Sir Davis leans into the legacy of black Southern moonshiners. “I’ve always felt empowered and confident when enjoying a quality whiskey,” Beyoncé shared in a recent press release. “When I discovered that my great-grandfather was a moonshiner, it felt like my love for whiskey was meant to be. Sir Davis is my way of honoring him, creating a new legacy that unites us. Partnering with Moët Hennessy, we’ve crafted an American whiskey that respects tradition but also invites people to explore something fresh and distinctive. The taste speaks for itself—welcome, Sir Davis.”
Notably, Sir Davis is the first spirits brand developed entirely in-house by Moët Hennessy in the United States, with its headquarters in Beyoncé’s hometown of Houston, Texas.
Priced at $89, Sir Davis is available for pre-order on sirdavis.com. The whiskey will hit shelves across the United States and select locations worldwide—including LAX, JFK, and SFO airports, as well as stores in London, Paris, and Tokyo—starting in September 2024.
