Los Angeles-based Bella Doña and Betty Boop have linked up on a range of apparel and accessories adorned with the beloved animated icon. The collection includes loungewear, t-shirts, jackets and a tote bag. Co-founded by LaLa Romero and Natalia Durazo, Bella Doña, is known for its celebration of West Coast Chicano culture.
In an email exchange with Romero, she expressed the deep significance of Betty Boop within West Coast Latina culture. “I am a lifelong Betty Boop fan, so this partnership is super meaningful to me,” said Romero. “I really do think of Betty as one of our OG fashion & beauty icons/influencers. There’s something intergenerational about her that makes her nostalgic, but at the same time, she’s always been ahead of her time. She has inspired so many generations of Latinas. In many of our families, Boop heirlooms like cookie jars and watches are passed down to us from our mothers and grandmothers.”
Additional products will be released later this year as part of an ongoing series of Betty Boop pieces from the brand.
