Y/Project by Glenn Martens and Salomon have queued up their Speedcross 3 sneaker collaboration, first previewed during the label’s fall 2024 presentation. The shoe, offered in either black or white, is distinguished by an oversized shroud and fabric draping on the upper, a design signature for Martens. The Speedcross 3 features Salomon’s signature cushioning midsole with dual-density EVA padding for optimal comfort, paired with a Contagrip rubber outsole equipped with multidirectional lugs for superior grip in tough conditions like mud, dirt and snow.
The release comes as creative director Martens, who spent a decade at the helm of Y/Project, has stepped down from his role, while continuing to lead Diesel. At the same time, news has emerged that Y/Project is for sale. According to reporting by WWD, the company posted revenues of just under 11 million euros in 2023.
Priced at $220, the Y/Project and Salomon Speedcross 3 will be available on October 10, 2024 on salomon.com and select retailers.
