Connecticutt-based Dali’s love for sneakers runs deep—rooted in childhood commutes to the Harlem School of the Arts, where the streets of New York doubled as a fashion runway, and later blossoming with her first job at Kids Foot Locker. Her top five sneaker picks of 2024 reflect her sharp eye for design, storytelling and cultural significance.
This passion has not only shaped her personal style but also fueled her mission to give back, culminating in her third annual sneaker drive that’s already helped countless families in need. “This year, I wanted to elevate the drive. After putting in the work over the years, I was able to secure major donations from The Whitaker Group, who generously matched each pair I collected through my own network,” she explained.
Currently working on launching a non-profit, Dali said that her sneaker drive was inspired by her own struggles. “I’ve been in those shoes before—struggling to find the essentials. One morning, I asked myself, ‘How can I help others in a way that truly matters?’ I’ve always loved helping people, and with the support of a solid platform and audience, I decided to use my voice for good.”
At the top of her Sneaker of the Year list? Nike and Kids of Immigrants‘ Air Max Sunder, a shoe that speaks to her own immigrant heritage with intricate details and powerful symbolism. “The KOI Sunder tells a story that resonates with me deeply as a child of immigrants. The details on this sneaker are incredibly thoughtful and skillfully crafted,” said Dali.
