VF Corp.-owned Vans is giving its iconic Old Skool silhouette a new life with its latest campaign. Titled New Future the campaign brings together four rising forces within skateboarding and furfing: Cocona Hiraki, Karina Rozunko, Tania Cruz, and Efron Danzig to bring their own lens to the classic silhouette.
These reinterpretations are rooted in each collaborator’s story, community, and vision. First off, on July 17th is Cocona Hiraki’s version, laced with nods to her Japanese heritage. A translucent outsole reveals her own artwork, and the shoe comes with a removable friendship bracelet.
Come September 4th, Karina Rozunko drops a vintage-leaning pair with an asymmetric upper with hints of a DIY zine. She shares the release date with Tania Cruz, whose design takes a more interactive turn. The leather upper wears down over time, revealing red beneath the black an evolving tribute to the global art-skate crew that shaped her.
The collection closes with Efron Danzig’s heeled version landing on September 10th. A mashup of skate and high fashion: corset lacing, silver hardware, and a punk spirit that rewires the Old Skool’s DNA.
