Beyoncé and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter took in another NBA playoff game last night, this time sitting court side in Oakland for game three of the finals, which ended with the Toronto Raptors defeating the Golden State Warriors.
As it happens, Beyoncé was seated next to Nicole Curran, the wife of Warriors owner Joe Lacob. While at first it seemed like just another night of the Carters sitting court side, at some point in the game video captured Curran talking to Jay, a move that required she lean into Beyoncé to be heard. Toward the end of the exchange, it seemed clear Beyoncé wanted her space back and let Curran know with a subtle shoulder nudge.
The Beyhive doesn’t miss a thing and took the move as marching orders. In no time, they identified Curran and proceeded to swarm her Instagram feed with bee emojis. A besieged Curran responded with a blurry court side image of herself with a hand on Beyoncé ‘s shoulder and wrote in the caption, “We should all help and support each other.”
Thoroughly unimpressed, the Beyhive continued to fill each and every one of the 113 images on her feed with bee emojis. Curran eventually waved the white flag and shut down her comments.
One might conclude the whole episode was another case of the Beyhive showing itself to be the most extra of fan bases, but perhaps not. This morning when Beyoncé reposted her outfit images, she added a bonus post showing a court side image plus the video that started the controversy. In both the photo and video, Curran is cropped out and nowhere to be seen.
