Nike takes a light (literally) approach with the debut of Joyride, a silhouette that takes its design cues from the React and is highlighted by 10,000 multi-colored beads that are visible in the shoe’s air pocket. There are three additional bead-filled pods covering the length of the shoe’s insole.
Not only fun to look out, the beads also act as mini shock absorbers, providing both cushioning as well as energy return. At the same time, the beads move in response to the foot and become personalized through use. All told, the shoe is designed to make the user feeling like s/he is running on bubbles.
The shoe will launch with the Nike Joyride Run Flyknit, which will be followed by the Joyride NSW, Joyride NSW Setter debuted during Matthew Williams’ spring ’20 ALYX show), Joyride NSW Optik (sized for women) and Joyride Kids Nova.
Priced at $180, the Nike Joyride Run Flyknit will launch on July 25, 2019, exclusively available to Nike members. A global release will follow on August 15th.
