Have a look at short film “Freebird,” a short starring dancer Derick “Spectacular Slicc” Murreld, who plays the role of Remington Steele, a Jamaican-American dancer living in Brooklyn’s Canarsie.
According to press, “Remington Steele is a first generation Jamaican-American who carries the weight of his family’s legacy on his shoulders. After finding dance as an outlet, he enters a world where his masculinity, sexuality, and cultural norms are challenged, as he struggles to find a balance between the pursuit of the unlikely dream of becoming a professional modern dancer and confronting the challenges of being a young man in a hyper-masculine Jamaican community.”
Directed by Anthony Price Leslie, the gorgeous film includes creative direction by Ashya designer Ashley Cimone and Moya Anneece with styling by Marc Anthony George.
