Rihanna and her Saudi-born mogul boyfriend Hassan Jameel have reportedly split up. The news come via Us Weekly, which was tipped off via an exclusive anonymous source. The magazine didn’t provide information on why the relationship ended.
The 31-year-old was spotted arriving at JFK airport in New York yesterday (January 16, 2020). She has yet to deliver #R9, an album she initially said would land sometime in 2019. Rihanna has stated the album is complete but she’s not yet ready to release it.
While the international duo were first outed as a couple in June 2017, they first began dating some time in October 2016 (timeline here).
As recently as June 2019, Rihanna stated she was “of course” in love with Jameel in an Interview magazine cover story. When asked about marriage plans, she paused before answering, “Only God knows that, girl. We plan and God laughs, right?”
Questions over the couple’s status has grown since Rihanna’s Diamond Ball in October, the last time the couple were spotted in public together. Speculation grew in October when Rihanna took an extended all-girls tropical vacation, followed by her presence at parties that included A$AP Rocky and Drake, who she hadn’t been seen with since they broke up some time in October 2016.
At the same time, the Bajan Boss traditionally has rung in the New Year with Jameel though this year it was rumored she celebrated in New York at a private party attended by A$AP Rocky.
