G-Star announced a couple months back that it was collaborating with Pharrell on a collection of denim called “Raw for the Oceans,” featuring denim made from recycled ocean plastic. During New York Fashion Week, the brand held a presentation in Lower Manhattan to show the line. It included an appearance by Pharrell and a surprise runway show (of sorts–out of the dark and only partially lit, Pharrell led a group of models who walked in formation to one end of a cleared walkway and back). The event took place in an unfinished (aka raw) space and combined with the blue lighting, giant screens looping film of whales and dry ice smoke, the overall effect indeed had the look and feel of taking place deep within the ocean. See some image of the clothes and the event below.
