Nike continues to invest energy into its SB Dunk low silhouette through high-heat collaborations, this time linking with Tokyo-based Comme des Garçons, which first revealed the effort on its spring 2020 women’s runway presentation in Paris.
Commenting on Japan’s impact on the enduring popularity of the SB Dunk, Nike press reads, “Japan, and Tokyo specifically, plays an important role in establishing the Nike Dunk as an icon of the international urban cognoscenti. Energetic elements of city life, the club scene, graffiti, skateboarding, fashion, are embodied by adopters of the silhouette, many of them leaders of Tokyo’s respective scenes.
“In the 35 years since the Dunk first debuted, Japan-led releases and collaborations have continually steered the Dunk story forward, while keeping the shoe in line with its balance of community authenticity and creative ingenuity.”
Offered in either black and grey (style code: CZ2675-001) or with a black and grey CDG logo graphic (CZ2675-002), the silhouette is highlighted by a Nexkin transparent upper detailed with translucent stretch-woven fabrics and waxed laces
Priced at $308, Nike and Comme des Garçons’ SB Dunk Low sneaker is available in women’s sizes 5-14 and will launch at 11:00 AM EST on May 14, 2020 on Dover Street Market’s e-commerce flash site.
