New Jersey native and Jersey Club devotee Cookiee Kawaii has released a visual for her popular dance track “‘Vibe (If I Back It Up).” A favorite on social media, the Jersey Club track went viral on TikTok in February 2020 enabling the single to hit 56 million streams on Spotify.
In the video, a charismatic Cookiee takes inspiration from Alfred Hitchcocks classic Bird‘s film and then segues into an array of arresting scenes ranging from a full marching band to a desert setting with fighting aliens.
Commenting on the song’s popularity and it’s place in Jersey Club, Kawaii stated, I’ve been listening to club music for as long as I can remember, so my interest in making a club song was definitely there from the moment I started making music.
“This is a time where we could get a little more spotlight on the culture. We’ve had a lot of different moments where things have kind of been on the spotlight for us but no one was really there to full force carry the torch. So I feel like this could open a lot of doors for Jersey, and Jersey Club, in total.”
