Atlanta-based music creative Summer Walker has dropped “Ex for a Reason” featuring City Girls rapper JT (real name Jatavia Johnson). The debut single from her upcoming album, Still Over It, the song was written by Sean Garrett and produced by BuddahBlessThisBeat.
The new single is an upbeat celebration on the decision to leave a problematic lover in the past, a lighter approach in comparison to the slow and sensuous groove of Over It, her debut album.
A commentary on her prior relationship with London on da Track, who is the father of her daughter, the song’s title and production draw a line in the sand between Walker’s career from this point forward and Over It, which was executive produced by him.
Walker has released a partial track list for Still Over It, which will drop on November 5, 2021. In addition to JT, featured artist will include SZA, Ari Lennox and Lil Durk. The final track on the album is titled “Ciara’s Prayer,” which is inspired and narrated by Ciara, who once famously stated she found her husband, Russell Wilson, through prayer.
