SeeHer and Breakr have announced plans for a mentorship program, created as part of their ongoing efforts to help erase gender bias in the music industry. Titled “Her Big Break,” the effort will provide three female music creatives the opportunity to accelerate their careers through mentorship from industry executives, a live virtual performance, and an influencer marketing campaign managed by Breakr.
One of the mentors will include Atlanta-based rapper Baby Tate Tate, who is known for producing and writing all her songs. Commenting on the effort in a press release, Baby Tate said, “I’m excited to join Breakr and SeeHer in uplifting independent women artists in music. As someone who built their career independently, I know exactly how difficult it can be for women. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned and help these women develop amazing careers!”
Launched in 2016, SeeHer is a global organization whose mission is positive representation and equity for women and girls in media. Founded by Rotimi Omosheyin, Ameer Brown, Dan Ware and Anthony Brown, Breakr is a online platform connecting artists and brands for music and product launches. It has over 60,000 creators as part of its community and is focused on music-driven influencer campaigns.
To apply for “Her Big Break,” the entrant must sign up for a Breakr account, fill out the online application and post a video exhibiting their musical talent on Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok with the hashtag #HerBigBreakContest. The deadline to apply is April 6th
