Salomon and New York-based designer Sandy Liang have joined forces for the first time on two shoe silhouette: a pink-hued XT-6 Expanse Plus and a RX Moc 3.0 featuring a sheer mesh upper contrasted by a black EVA midsole. The partnership marks Salomon’s first effort with a woman-led brand. Known for taking a citified approach to feminimity, Liang aptly describes the collaboration as “A celebration for the person who runs the trails in a dress.”
While this is Salomon and Liang’s first official collaboration, the labels became acquainted when Liang made use of Salomon footwear on her spring 2021 runway. “There is a sportiness to Salomon that resonates with me. Growing up in the ’90s, I loved wearing sneakers. I incorporated this into my design process, tapping into nostalgic colorways and details like the anime-inspired flower decal seen throughout the capsule,” she noted in a press release.
Prior to Salomon, the label partnered with Vans on a series of shoe and clothing capsules. Sandy Liang has also made waves this year wtih the launch of two different ballet silhouettes, both of which sold out in all but a handful of sizes shortly after launch.
Priced at $190 for the XT-6 and and $110 for the Moc 3.0, both shoes will launch on April 28, 2023 on sandyliang.com and in her store located at 28 Orchard Street in Manhattan, followed by additional stores on May 5th.
