Fast-food restuarent McDonald’s and Cactus Plant Flea Market joined forces in October of last year for an extremely well-received collaboration that included hoodies, t-shirts and sweatpants as well as a Happy Meal which included one of four vinyl toys. The collection also included four plush dolls: McDonald’s mascotts Grimace, the Hamburglar, Birdie and CPFM’s own Cactus Buddy. All items quickly sold out and subsequently were delivered with the exception of the four plush toys, which still don’t have a delivery date nearly a year later.
On Tuesday (August 15, 2023), McDonald’s sent out a mass email and let it be known the plush toys are still in production. Blaming quality issues, the email read in part, “our goal is to deliver a product we deem worthy to the customer and in order to do so, we have gone through many iterations to finalize the quality standard.”
The email noted that the company still intends to deliver “cpfm mcdonald’s plush friends, but we are still working towards securing a ship date we can quote with accuracy.”
Those who no longer want to wait for the dolls were instructed to reply with their order number and a request to cancel, adding, “otherwise, we assure you we are working towards finalizing your order.”
Priced at $250, there was a photograph (above) of the characters, but no image of the plush dolls at the time of the sale. They were described as 19-inches tall and featuring CPFM product detailing.
