Nike has tapped Bode for an Astro Grabber collaboration. Designed by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman, the ’70s-era soccer shoe features a waffle sole and was designed for play on artificial turf fields.
The effort marks Nike and Bode’s first collaboration together, appropriate given it’s the first-time reintroduction of the shoe. While the presentation didn’t show Nike apparel, there are rumors it will be included.
Bode as lead by Emily Bode Aujla revealed the shoe during its fall 2024 preview, debuted on January 12, 2024. Titled “Bode Recreation,” the collection is rooted in the histor of sport and “explores the evolution of athletic wear and character building through the lens of American institutional sport and competition.”
Mirroring the label’s love of the olden days, the collection specifically examines sports from the 1770s-1970s and “speaks to the American commitment to sports and recreation as vital to our understanding of virtue, community, and national history.”
Priced at $180 and offered in men’s sizing, there is no due date yet but given they’re included in Bode’s fall 2024 collection, so the shoe should launch sometime in late summer 2024.
