As part of the label’s ongoing 40th anniversary celebration, Marc Jacobs has collaborated with Denim Tears on a black leather version of the label’s famed Tote Bag splashed with Denim Tears’ signature cotton wreath motif.
It’s a full-circle moment for Denim Tears designer Tremaine Emory who once worked in retail at Marc Jacobs. Commenting on the cotton wreath, Emory described it as “a talisman for Black people” and “a call to return to what built this country.” The emblem, often featured in Emory’s work, reflects his mission to explore Black history and cultural identity through fashion.
The news of the bag was announced alongside a campaign starring Aweng Chuol and Bloody Osiris who were photographed by Eric Nelson and styled by Yohana Lebasi.
Priced at $495, Marc Jacobs and Denim Tear’s Tote Bag will launch on October 18, 2024 at Denim Tears Manhattan store, denimtears.com, marcjacobs.com and at select retail locations.
