On Saturday, we caught up with designers and twin sisters Coco & Breezy at Mackage, where the duo were DJ-ing, kicking off the SoHo’s boutique’s summer series of weekly events. They took a moment to let us know what they are up to, plus their thoughts on Prince‘s passing, a significant event for the duo not only because they grew up a mile from Paisley Park in Minneapolis, but also because the multi-talented performer had reached out to them to design what eventually would become their triple lens “Tres” glasses, first worn by Prince during a November 2014 appearance on Saturday Night Live. Prince had invited Coco & Breezy to the event, but kept his plans to wear the lens a surprise, making the big reveal while on stage. Prince must have loved those glasses because he also wore them in his final TV appearance during the AMA awards in November 2015.
The day Prince passed, the twins went to his Twitter feed and discovered a week prior he had Tweeted a link to purchase the “Tres” glasses on their store. “He left us with a legendary piece,” said Coco.
