Following on the buzz created by the single, “Baewatch,” just-turned-16 model and singer Mallory Merk has release a sing-song EP titled “MM & HH” made in collaboration with Texas trio Herrick and Hooley.
Born and raised in Louisiana, Merk’s influence is a trippy blend of the music that surrounded her growing up, including jazz, pop and hip hop. The project’s greatest strength are Merk’s laid back and dreamy vocals, which are super easy on the ear and seem to reflect a soul with wisdom far greater than Merk’s 16 years on the planet.
The standout single is “If You Wanna” featuring Ian Olney, whose vocals play a beautiful foil to Merk’s. “Emma” is also great, a heartfelt tribute to deceased internet star Emma Greer that reveals good range and a beautiful flow.
If you’re in New York and like to check out Merk live, she’s performing on Webster Hall on September 4th.
