Already a fan favorite, “Don’t Touch My Hair” ft. Sampha from Solange’s just released A Seat at the Table has new light shed on it through a deeply attractive visual directed by Solange and her husband, Alan Ferguson.
Reflecting Solange’s flair for style, the video is a fashion feast and includes multiple looks and, driving home the title of the video, multiple hairdos as well. More than just Solange swanning in cool outfits, the video is underscored by modern dance movement throughout and a stunning all black cast, perfectly realizing Tina Lawson’s album interlude emphasizing the beauty of blackness.
It’s very artful but at the same time very real, in other words signature Solange, a message surely aided by working with Ferguson, a partner with whom there is deep intimacy, shared vision and trust.
Solange simultaneously released a visual for “Cranes in the Sky,” also directed by herself and her husband. Similar to “Don’t Touch my Hair,” the video feels deeply personal and is gorgeous. Shot in multiple locations globally, it will be interesting to discover the very long list of locations, including scenic geographies, buildings and interiors.
