The coziness of sweater dresses is one to cherish especially when said dress is linked to the fresh appeal of hip hop culture. For fall 2016, famous knit-brand Coogi offers two two feminine, curve-hugging dress silhouettes, one a sexy halter and the other, a long-sleeve dress with back lacing. Both feature the trademark colorful knit the brand is known and loved for.
For those who aren’t aware of Coogi’s storied history, it was originally launched as Cuggi by Jacky Tarantoin in Melbourne, Australia in 1969. The brand was rebranded as Coogi and reached new heights of fame in the ’90s among U.S. urban consumers, including and especially rapper Biggie Smalls.
The brand’s distribution spun out of control near the end of the decade, demand dropped and Tarantino sold it in 2002 to New York based investors. More recently, the company has put its focus on reeling in its distribution and restoring its exclusive status.
