It looks like Nike and Off White may be collaborating on a collection of clothes and shoes, a capsule that was revealed at an “Off White c/o Ben White” event held during Art Basel in Miami. While there has been no official launch announcement and the image featuring two people wearing a long black coat and black Air Force 1 sneakers (below) was labeled “staff uniform” in an Off White Instagram post, it’s a good bet that at least the Air Force 1 sneakers will hit retail because the classic silhouette is one that Nike recently has been focusing a lot of its efforts on marketing ahead of its 35th anniversary next year.
This partnership makes total sense when one considers Nike’s moves as of late. We wrote last week about the Beaverton-based brand getting back on its grind in terms of connecting with influencers, and indeed, during Complexcon it announced a collaboration with streetwear brand VLone, which is operated by A$AP Bari, a friend to Virgil Abloh.
Funnily enough, we also wrote back in March 2015, about Nike trolling Off White through a box and a tee shirt featuring graphic stripes similar to Abloh’s brand. At the same time, a custom sneaker designer released an Air Force 1 shoe customized with Off White horizontal stripes.
