With a crew of women clad in white Nike Flyknit sneakers, Astrid Andersen showed her first womenswear collection for fall 2017. A cool blend of luxe and street, the show started off with rich velour burgundy separates, and smoothly segued to dressier garments featuring an array of ethereal prints and textures for a look that was slouchy, relaxed and the height of cool girl chic.
Heavily influenced by hip-hop culture and streetwear, Andersen achieved a consistent collection whereby the edge she’s known for conveying in menswear was artfully tweaked for a female silhouette. Between the corduroy jackets, thigh baring skirts and lush tracksuits, our favorites came in multitudes.
Given the streetwear roots of the collection, one would hope with future runways Andersen’s casting will reflect the diversity of her men’s runways.
