More so than any entertainer, Beyoncé for her fans is simply not replaceable, and yet, a replacement for her at Coachella had to be found after she announced last week she was bowing out because of her pregnancy.
Today it was announced that Lady Gaga will be the show’s headliner, news that comes via Billboard magazine, which is reporting Coachella will make the news official in the next few days.
It is said Coachella made it a priority to replace Beyoncé with another female performer, which will make Gaga the first woman to headline Coachella since Björk in 2007.
Gaga will perform in the evening of April 15th and 22nd at Empire Polo Grounds in Indo, California, where the festival takes place. At the moment Gaga’s Instagram feed is filled with a mix of responses, some utterly thrilled with others still working through anger that Beyoncé pulled out in the first place.
