There’s been a lot of advance buzz about around Don Crawley aka Just Don‘s artic orange Jordan II sneaker collaboration, though the latest news is the shoes will be offered in gradeschool sizing only (3.5Y-7Y). If you feel like this simply can’t be true because you saw adult-sized pairs out there, that’s because there were custom pairs made for DJ Khaled.
“My family couldn’t participate in the last couple of Jordan releases so it felt good to allow them to take part. This collaboration is not only for my blood family but my extended family, all my friends,” explained Crawley in a press statement. “I am excited to put family first for this drop and expand my Jordan collaboration to everyone.”
Crawley has three children with his wife, Kristen Noel Crawley, who is the CEO of KNC Beauty and also is a founder of highly-regarded Chicago boutique RSVP Gallery, along with her husband and Virgil Abloh.
The shoes feature a posh quilted leather upper, a trademark Don C design feature inspired by one of his wife’s Chanel bags, but also the high quality leather used on the first Jordan II model, released in 1986. “When Nike produced the first pairs in Italy, they really had a take on quality fabrication of a basketball sneaker, so that’s why, to me, it’s one of the most iconic silhouettes of all time and it is the originator of luxury sports shoes,” he explained.
Further emphasizing family, the shoes will drop on May 13, 2017, the day before Mother’s Day.
The Just Don Jordan II sneakers will be available on justdon.com,along with the following North American retailers: Wish (Atlanta), Concepts (Boston), Kith (Brooklyn), Social Status (Charlotte), RSVP (Chicago), Xhibition (Cleveland), Sneaker Politics (Lafayette), Oneness (Lexington), Sole Fly (Miami), Crème (Norfolk), Trophy Room (Orlando), Ubiq (Philadelphia) and Capsule (Toronto).
