Somalian-American model Halima Aden continues her hot run in fashion, landing Allure magazine’s July cover. For the cover shoot, a playful Aden was shot wearing the Nike Pro-Hajib (which will launch in early 2018). If you look closely, you can also see she’s still sporting braces, though the 19-year-old Aden says they’re coming off next week.
On her much discussed hijab, Aden pointed out that she began wearing hers at the age of eight, adding, “It’s how I interpret my religion, but there are women who are Muslim who choose not to wear the hijab.”
Aden first showed a propensity for the spotlight when she entered the Miss Minnesota contest in November 2016, and made history as the first entry to wear a burkini and hijab during the competition. Her career received a rocket fuel boost when Kanye West selected her to walk his Yeezy Season 5 collection during New York Fashion Week in February 2017.
