Brooklyn’s own Joey Bada$$ has released a new visual for his R&B-flavored song “Temptation” a single from his sophomore album All Amerikkkan Bada$$.
The 22-year old rapper, actor and model took it back to his roots, shooting the video in Brooklyn in a visual that highlights the block that raised him. The video is a big departure from his “Land Of The Free” video, which made a much starker political statement.
Directed by Nathaniel White and Bada$$, the video opens with a shot of a subway crossing the Manhattan Bridge and segues to time spent on a brownstone-filled block, surrounded by family, friends and his Pro Era crew. The video concludes in a Brooklyn church where Bada$$ leads the congregation in song.
While the video is largely a clear-eyed celebration of his roots, Bada$$ sends a message through sampling of Zianna Oliphant’s tearful speech at a September 2016 city council meeting in Charlotte, where the 10-year-old spoke about family devastation caused by police brutality.
Currently, Bada$$ is on the road in support of Logic’s “Everybody” tour. Staying busy, Bada$$ recently was announced as the new face of Pony footwear and will also continue his role in USA Network’s “Mr. Robot,” which returns in October 2017.
