In the midst of touring, CTRL singer SZA has released “Quicksand,” a new single that was released as part of “Insecure’s” season two soundtrack.
Show creator and writer Issa Rae recently told Genius that SZA’s music has had a big influence on the show’s soundtrack. “Season one before CTRL dropped, I was a fan of her music and just her sound and production, and so I told [music director Raphael Saadiq], ‘I love a SZA type sound, just to influence the music you do. So already in season one, just the score that you’re hearing has some elements of her production.”
The female-friendly soundtrack includes character Rae’s freestyle raps, as well as contributions from Leikeli47, Rico Nasty, Kari Faux, Jazmine Sullivan and Bryson Tiller, among others.
