The most recent episode of “Saturday Night Live,” starring Ryan Gosling and Jay-Z, included a hilarious parody advertisement for Levi’s “Wokes” jeans, “sizeless, style-neutral, gender non-conforming denim for a generation that defies labels.”
While the ad mostly pokes fun at the debates that inform socially progressive viewpoints, it happens that the gender-neutral concept of the jeans is also perfectly in-step with current fashion trends.
Offered in the color “greb,” described as “not brown but not not brown,” the jeans’ pockets are sold separately so as not to offend anyone missing hands. As well the garments’ zipper extends along the entire crotch to accommodate all gender choices, providing “180 degrees of gender non-conformity.”
Addressing child labor issues, the jeans are made in the United States “by white kids.”
