New York-based Kith continues to make major moves, opening a three-story, 10,000 square-foot retail store in Soho on Saturday (October 7, 2017) that combines all its Manhattan locations into one space.
The store was designed in partnership with architectural firm Snarkitecture, which has designed multiple Kith locations. The space includes a Kith Treats bar and café along with a gallery created in collaboration with artist Daniel Arsham with second floor of the store is dominated by a footwear wall. “We’re going to commission artists from all over the world to fit the concept of the space,” Kith founder Ronnie Fieg told Business of Fashion.
In addition to the Kith brand, the store also carries offerings from high-end streetwear brands including Stone Island and Off White. The store will also have a section dedicated to Kith’s collaborations, many of which were showcased on its spring 2018 runway presentation during New York Fashion Week.
The building was last occupied in 2016 by activist organization the Muste Institute with the building affectionately referred to as the Peace Pentagon. According to Bowery Boogie, the organization sold the space after more than 40 years of ownership to real estate developer Aby Rosen for $20.75 million in October 2015. The building was in dire need of repair has undergone extensive renovations.
The three-story Kith is located at 337 Lafayette Street. For some perspective, it now shares the same avenue as Supreme, but is located just over a block north of Houston Street while Supreme is located just under a block south of Houston.
