Heron Preston showed his third men’s and women’s collection in Paris today (January 17, 2018). Titled “Public Figure,” the collection in part was a statement on influencer culture, an ironic reference given the movement is one Preston is very much part and parcel of.
Offerings include a collaboration with Carhartt WIP plus makes use of a version of the NASA logo first used in 1975. Nicknamed the worm because of the curved shape of the letters, the logo was discontinued in 1992.
Oft times the collection feels heavily influenced by Off-White (like the Binder Clip-influenced crossbody bag) and yet somehow that’s okay and even endearing. Why that’s the case is difficult to say!
Preston’s event was attended by his friend, Off-White designer Virgil Abloh, as well as model Bella Hadid, Colette founder Sarah Andelman and Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo, John Elliott, Diane Pernet among others.
