With the luxury logo trend abounding, Christan Dior created quite a bit of buzz of its fall 2018 women’s runway through the relaunch of its famed saddle-shaped bag. The bag is a continuation of Dior’s love affair with the logo, a print designer Maria Grazia Chiuri reintroduced on the label’s spring 2017 runway, her debut collection.
Designed by John Galliano and first debuted as part of the spring collection in fall 1999, the Dior saddle bag achieved icon status when it popped up on Carrie’s arm in the 2000 season of “Sex and the City,” a show famously styled by Patricia Field. The bag subsequently was spotted on the arms of Beyoncé and Paris Hilton, among other early ought style setters.
As iconic as it is, the Dior saddle bag never disappeared entirely and has been heating up more so recently, a trend called out by Vogue in 2016 after the bag was spotted on the arm of pop singer CL.
