Singer/songwriter Janelle Monáe releases a Lacey-Duke directed visual for her latest single “I like That,” a sultry yet punchy tune in which expresses the freedom of one’s own dual nature. The music video taps into Monáe’s signature artsy aesthetic, kicking off with a scene showing multiple versions of Monae appearing on screen simultaneously.
The single follows “Pynk,” “Make Me Feel” and “Django Jane, all of which will be included on Dirty Computer, her third studio album set to drop on April 28, 2018.
In support of her upcoming album, Monáe visited Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” yesterday (April 25, 2018), where she shared her thoughts on a range of topics, including Kanye West’s controversial tweets. “I believe in free thinking, but I don’t believe in free thinking if it’s rooted in or at the expense of the oppressed. If your free thinking is used as fuel by oppressors to continue to oppress black people, minorities, I think it’s bullshit and it’s not okay,” she explained.
Along with the new music, she also announced a 29-date tour, starting in Seattle on June 11th and ending on August 4th in her hometown, Atlanta. Monáe is also slated to perform at Afropunk Brooklyn in late August.
