U.K.-based singer Rita Ora has dropped a video for “Girls,” a single that includes features from Cardi B, Bebe Rexha and Charli XCX.
Directed by Helmi (would’ve been nice/consistent if Ora had gone with a woman–just saying), the video is filled with lots and lots of beautiful women and yes, it delivers on the song theme with Cardi placing a light kiss on Ora.
The song received some push back when it was first released on May 11, 2018, because some viewed it as making use of female-on-female action as a titillating marketing device.
The lyrics were defended by Ora, who wrote in a statement, “‘Girls’ was written to represent my truth, and is an accurate account of a very real and honest experience in my life.”
Cardi B added on Twitter, “We never try to cause harm or had bad intentions with the song. “We never try to cause harm or had bad intentions with the song .I personally myself had experiences with other woman ,shiieeett with a lot of woman ! I though the song was a good song and i remember my experience.”
