The Clermont Twins sister Shannade Clermont’s case officially is headed to trial. Clermont was charged on July 11, 2018 with wire fraud, access device fraud, and aggravated identity theft in connection with her alleged theft of a client’s debit cards, which she used to make $20,000 in purchases.
The 24-year-old recently appeared before a New York grand jury and was indicted on all three charges, according to documents obtained by The Blast.
She allegedly stole two debit cards after having sex with the victim, James Alessi, in his Manhattan apartment in exchange for $400. Some time after she left the apartment, the man died of a drug overdose. Clermont used his debit cards to pay her rent and phone bills, along with flights and online purchases for clothes and accessories.
According to Complex, if Clermont is convicted, she faces up 20 years for wire fraud, a 15-year maximum sentence for access device fraud and two-to-seven years for aggravated identity theft. She could be sentenced for up to 42 years if the judge chooses not to run the sentences concurrently. She will also have to return whatever items she purchased with his card.
Clermont was released on $100,000 bail shortly after her arrest though according to The Blast, she already violated the terms of the bail agreement by traveling without approval.
Clermont is due in court sometime during the month of August 2018.
